New Learn10 release

September 10th, 2008

We have made a couple of changes to the widget. The most major of these will not impact on English speaking learners: now the interface of the widget appears in languages other than English for those who do not speak English.  Currently in our league of users - Spanish and French are the biggest languages - with those learning English coming in 4th -below Arabic. This should now change as English is the most popular second language around the globe - being studied by 750 million people.

The word lists are also now synchronised - this means that other people, organisations and companies can develop resources with the common theme of our 10 daily words. Our system works by putting the words you’re learning on any day into as many locations as possible so it’s important that we collaborate with other sites you use on a regular basis.  The down side is that the list is not always 10 words - as some words do not have a direct translation between languages.  We also relinquish some control by making our content available - however third parties will need a license in order to get access to word lists in advance.

We have now also added the ‘write’ page. You can use this to translate common phrases - and then have these read by the speaking teacher (sound available to subscribers).

So… we’re sure users will let us know what they think. We look forward to hearing back from them.
