Use Twitter to learn a new language

August 8th, 2008

In general, Learn10 users are early adopters, so please excuse me if I’m teaching grandmother to suck eggs (such a delightfully illogical expression!). You will soon be able to see your daily list of 10 words in your twitter stream - the service is currently in development and will be launched with our next (imminent) release. UPDATE -it’s done.

Twitter is  an addictive little tool that sends out 140 character snippets of news. I follow TechCrunch, mbites, billt, shanerichmond and several feeds from fellow SLA (second language acquisition) providers.  Using twitterfox I then have little text messages pop up on my screen keeping me in the loop of what’s going on in the big wide geek world. Twitter has been described as a ‘micro blogging’ facility.

Though it’s a bit buggy, it has achieved critical mass - ie there’s enough people using it to make it interesting.  If you have a twitter account, you can follow our news & progress on www.twitter.com/learn10. If you want an opportunity to see your daily words in your twitter stream, click on the twitter icon at the bottom of the learn10 widget.

You can also  pick up an rss feed from the twitter page for each language (but that would be delving even deeper into the geekosphere).
