With three of the four of us away from home this past week, it was a hard time for MySpace to go live with the beta version of their apps. I was a wedding guest, the technical department was an usher, and the designer was the groom. Thanks for all your good wishes to us. We apologise for any technical difficulties you may have experienced in our absence. I promise never, ever again to go and stay in a hotel that charges through the nose to connect to the Internet. Just how is a girl supposed to manage her Web 2.0 startup under such conditions?
We were devastated to discover that a change in MySpace’s code some time on Thursday had removed Learnit from the MySpace apps page. We have changed our code to match theirs, and resubmitted it and I am now waiting to see it back in the beta directory. But, it’s the weekend and we have absolutely no idea how long it will take to re-enter. ‘It couldn’t have happened at a worse time’ is such a cliche, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need. We have worked so hard to meet this deadline, only to be pulled out of the initial launch by something so trivial when we could do nothing to fix it.
Oh, and I seem to have (literally) screwed up my lap top too. Right click - therefore auto spelling correction - not functioning - after my reinsertion of a wayward screw to replace the gaffer tape. It’s my birthday today. Instead of a new laptop or iPhone I think I might be getting a payment system for Learnit. We have been too busy with Learnit to arrange a night out, so I am going to make like the Queen & have an official birthday in a couple of weeks, when we have time for it.
